Dressed Like Boys

Dressed Like Boys unveils ‘Jaouad’, a song of breathtaking beauty in the style and class of Sufjan Stevens, Rufus Wainwright and Perfume Genius. His delicate voice wrapped in gorgeous indie pop piano, frontman Jelle Denturck declares his love and admiration for Jaouad Alloul, a multidisciplinary and Muslim icon of the LGBTQIA+ community.

“This song is about Jaouad Alloul.” Jelle explains. “He lives in Belgium, just like me, although his roots lie in Morocco. Jaouad contains multitudes. He is an actor, a writer, a singer. A gay man, a muslim, a drag
queen. A freedom fighter. A gentle, wounded spirit. Above all, he is unafraid. Unafraid to be himself in a
world where everyone seems to be a judge. I wanted to pay tribute to his beautiful, wonderful humanity by writing this song.”

‘Jaouad’ comes out on 27 November, and a full debut album is set for release in the summer of 2025. Dressed Like Boys will be playing in Belgium, the Netherlands and France in the coming months.
