Coming Home

Coming Home is a residency-based music creation project led by Jaouad. A soulful jazz music experience drawing from Gnawa, Maqaam, Sufi tradition, South American influences and the meaning of home. Developed with a band of five musicians, the project explores music as ritual and collective experience. This work will consist Jaouad’s repertoire of Messias & Homo Universalis as new experimental work.

As a child, Idriss wants to be a girl. According to him, that would solve everything. He could wear dresses and high heels. And he could just be in love with boys. Every night, he prays to God for healing. Every morning, everything is still the same.
At the age of 20, he closes the door behind him and steps into a new world. Away from home, away from God. Searching for himself.
